JOIN US Toy-like vehicles are likely to replace reeking autorickshaw carriers for door-to-door garbage collection in the city.
A Hyderabad-based firm, Troops Services Private Limited, has come forward to supply the electric vehicles to the BBMP.
These vehicles are hardly two-and-half-feet wide and five-feet-long. It is an answer to the pushcarts and the autorickshaws where mixed waste is dumped.
Chairman of the firm Shiva Prakash Reddy said the vehicle is user-friendly and eco-friendly.
“It has been designed to reach narrow lanes and is completely covered. Its carrier can be lifted mechanically to unload garbage,” said Reddy.
The vehicles are being used in Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Noida. It might be inducted in the BBMP. The firm will give a demonstration before the corporators at the BBMP head office on Friday.
