Last Updated 26 August 2016, 18:08 IST

District In-Charge Minister M R Seetaram directed the officials of various departments to complete the development works within the deadline and convene a meeting under the DC’s leadership.

Chairing the quarterly KDP meeting at the Old Fort Hall in the city on Friday, he expressed his displeasure over the pending works of the Public Works, Panchayat Raj and Urban Development Departments.

He set a deadline for the works on court building, Virajpet taluk office building, bridge and roads. Also, the works on drinking water project, Kannada Bhavan in Kushalnagar, Kundamestry project and Suvarna Kannada complex in Madikeri have been pending from the last many years and need to be completed, he said.

Seethram told the officials to initiate necessary measures towards the permanent control of wild elephant menace.

He directed the PWD engineer to ensure that sand does not fall short for the works related to housing schemes and government buildings. The sand should be distributed as per the new sand policy.

Seetharam saw a need to give importance to the provision of housing facilities to the tribal, along with providing them with title deeds under the Forest Rights Act. ITDP funds must be utilised to provide basic amenities. The applications under 94C must be cleared immediately, he stated.

District In-charge Secretary Dr Kalpana expressed her displeasure over the erratic statistics on the expenses of drinking water projects.

DC Dr Richard Vincent D’Souza told KSRTC depot manager to maintain cleanliness in KSRTC bus stands in the district.

Ration cards

The minister directed the Food and Civil Supplies Department deputy director Chandrakanth Nayak to distribute the pending ration cards.

Even though the former district in-charge minister had directed to do the same in the last meeting, the direction has not been followed. Sudden inspections should be carried out at fair price shops, he said.

Seetha told the officials to submit a proposal for the supply of rice, if there is no demand for wheat.
MLAs, others absent

MLA K G Bopaiah, Appacchu Ranjan, Zilla Panchayat president B A Harish, vice president Lokeshwari Gopal and other standing committee president were absent at the meeting.

MLA not invited?

Harish had taken part in a protest conducted by BJP in Madikeri. But he did not turn up for the meeting.

It is said that the BJP members were angry as the MLA was not not invited for the meeting.

Zilla Panchayat CEO Charulata Somal, nominated members Papu Sannaiah, Sharat Changappa, Assistant Commissioner Dr Nanjundegowda, Zilla Panchayat Deputy Secretary Vishwanath Poojary and other officials were present in the meeting.
