Last Updated 30 August 2016, 17:34 IST

JD(S) State president H D Kumaraswamy on Tuesday said that the farmers of the district were in real crisis as the dams had not filled to their maximum capacity. “Let Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha visit Karnataka to know the ground reality here,” he said.

Kumaraswamy, who was in Mandya to supervise the arrangements for the audio CD release of his film ‘Jaguar’, spoke about the Cauvery issue that has triggered protests in the state as well as in Tamil Nadu.

“The government should also invite former TN chief minister and DMK leader Karunanidhi and if required a helicopter facility should be extended to ferry him. As the people of both the states are living in harmony, organisations and its leaders should not issue statements that may affect peace and harmony,” he said.

Pointing out the statement of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah that water being released to Tamil Nadu had been stopped, Kumaraswamy said, water was being released even on Tuesday morning. “Let the Chief Minister give a honest reply”, he said, and demanded suitable compensation to the affected farmers.
