JOIN USA man was found hanging at his girlfriend’s house while the woman was lying unconscious on the floor beside him in East Delhi’s Ghazipur area on Thursday morning.
The deceased is identified as Ajay Kumar, 26, and the woman’s name is Rita, 24. Rita is married and has a son.
After getting information about the incident, police admitted the woman to a nearby hospital where her condition remains serious.
Police have not found any suicide notes in the house and investigation behind the incident has been started.
“We have sent the body for post-mortem, only after which the cause of death can be ascertained,” said a police officer.
According to the police, Rita lives in a one-room house with her husband Krishna and a five-year-old son in Ghazipur’s Mullah Colony.
Rita and Ajay have known each other for many years, said the police. They were close friends even before Rita’s marriage, they added.
“Even after Rita’s marriage, Ajay kept meeting her. However, in the last few weeks, they were undergoing a tense phase in their relationship,” said a police officer.
On Thursday morning, Rita’s husband went for his job, and she dropped her son to a nearby school.
According to the police, Rita returned home after dropping her son to school, and soon after, Ajay was also seen to have entered her home.
After a few hours, a loud noise of someone falling on floor came out of the house which alerted the neighbours, and they entered the house.
Inside the house they saw the woman lying unconscious on the floor while the man was hanging through his neck from a ceiling fan.
It is suspected that the woman also tried to hang herself but somehow the rope with which she had tied her neck snapped.
Both of them were rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, where doctors declared Ajay brought dead.According to the police, Rita’s husband knew about her relationship with Ajay.
He had even caught the two in a compromising position in the house some days back.
After finding the two in his house, Rita’s husband had registered a complaint against Ajay in the police station.
