Last Updated 02 September 2016, 20:47 IST

Seven more flyovers in the city will get a major makeover in the coming months on the lines of Richmond Circle flyover.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has decided to shut down Richmond Circle for 40 days for overhaul at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore.

The seven flyovers
The other seven flyovers to undergo maintenance are at Bangalore Dairy Circle, National College Circle, Lingarajapuram, Banaswadi, Mathikere, Anand Rao Circle and Domlur, for which the BBMP has earmarked Rs 6.24 crore.

At all these places, bitumen surface will be removed. It will be followed by laying tar sheets to make it waterproof. Further, a layer of concrete will be spread on road surface. Vehicular movement will be banned during the repair of these flyovers.

Potholes galore
Maintenance of these flyovers was long overdue as potholes have surfaced on them. Many accidents have been reported on these flyovers due to the bad surface.
