Bomb threat to Shatabdi Express turns hoax

Railway police, on Saturday, conducted intensive search in the Mysuru-Chennai-Mysuru Shatabdi Express at the Mysuru City Railway Station, following the directions by the higher ups as they had received a message about a bomb in the train.

According to a police official, the Railway Minister had received a message from an unknown person, stating that a bomb has been planted in one of the Shatabdi Express trains.

So, the minister had ordered thorough checking of all Shatabdi Express trains that run in various parts of the country.

The train, which had left Chennai at 6 am, arrived at the station at 1.10 pm. Dog squad, Railway Protection Force (RPF), and Karnataka State Railway Police Force personnel inspected all the 12 coaches attached to the train for more than 45 minutes.

The train left to Chennai from the station as per the schedule at 2.15 pm.

City police extended their support to the railway police, by deputing a police team and dog squad.

The official said, following the request from the railway police, City Police Commissioner B Dayananda has sent a team to conduct a search.
