Will verify if innocent people are arrested, says home minister

Home Minister G Parameshwara said that the two DCPs, whose jurisdictions witnessed the most violence during the Cauvery riots on Monday, were transferred by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah due to their lapses. The transferred officers are Ajay Hilori and T R Suresh in West and North divisions respectively.

“The chief minister had received the report on their lapses. I don't have the details of the report,” he said. Parameshwara said that the city was peaceful on Thursday. “So far, the investigation has not revealed the role of any organisation in the arson and riots,’’ he said after holding a meeting with senior police officials and Additional Chief Secretary (Home).

“I heard there are reports that some innocent people have also been arrested. We will verify their claims. Nothing can be done if there is a visual evidence against arsonists who have been arrested,’’ he said.
