The MLAs get Rs 50 lakh this month and the entire amount has to be spent within March 31! And the funds, if unutilised would go back to the treasury. U T Khader (Cong) said it was just impossible to utilise Rs 50 lakh before this month end. “You have released Rs 50 lakh for the whole year. And now you want to spend the balance sum within a few weeks. Let the unutilised funds be put in the personal deposit account of deputy commissioners so that it can be withdrawn when required”, he suggested.
PWD Minister C M Udasi said funds should be returned if not utilised before April 31. But the Opposition members said it is impossible to get estimation for projects done within such a short time. The Minister said the Chief Minister would look into the demand.
