Jayalalithaa remains under observation in hospital

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, who was admitted to a hospital here after she complained of "fever and dehydration", continues to remain under doctors' observation today even as her party dismissed reports that the AIADMK supremo will be flown to Singapore for further treatment.

"The honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu is under observation," a morning medical bulletin from Apollo Hospitals Chief Operating officer Subbiah Viswanathan had said.

She was on a a 'normal diet,' he added.

On reports in a section of media, including on social media, that Jayalalithaa will be flown to Singapore for further treatment, party Spokesperson CR Saraswathi said, "It is false information. She is not going anywhere...someone is spreading wrong news. She will soon return home".

Saraswathi pointed out that Apollo Hospitals, where the Chief Minister was admitted late Thursday for fever and dehydration, had issued a statement on Jayalalithaa's health where it was mentioned that she was on a 'normal diet.'

Meanwhile, actor Rajinikanth wished Jayalalithaa speedy recovery. "I pray for the speedy recovery of our beloved Chief Minister," he tweeted in Tamil.

AIADMK workers held special prayers in temples across the state, praying for the speedy recovery of their 'Amma' (Mother).

The 68-year-old AIADMK leader was admitted to Apollo hospital after she complained of fever and dehydration.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao, DMK leaders M Karunanidhi and M K Stalin and Chief Ministers of Karnataka and Puducherry, Siddaramaiah and V Narayanasamy respectively, were among those who had wished her speedy recovery.
