Prepare voters' list for south-east constituency, ADC tells officials

Additional Deputy Commissioner K Vidyakumari has asked the officials to ensure preparation of an error-free voters’ list for elections to the south-east teachers’ constituency.

Speaking at a meeting here on Friday, she said that the State Election Commission will notify the elections after the preparation of the voters’ list. November 1, 2016 should be considered as the eligibility date for enrolling voters.

Persons willing to enrol their name on the list should submit an application in Form No 19 to the assistant electoral officer till November 5. Since the voters’ list prepared for the last elections is not being used, all the eligible persons should submit applications seeking inclusion of their names. 

The applicants should be residing within the limits of south-east constituency, they should have three years experience in teaching in high schools and they should be full-time employees. Teachers, though appointed for a temporary post, but on full-time basis, can also submit applications. But, part-time teachers are not eligible. If the applicants are working in unaided private schools, they should produce suitable endorsements from the deputy director of public instruction or block education officer. The applicants - teachers, lecturers, professors, principals etc - should attest their applications and should furnish the electoral photo identity card number, mobile number and photograph in the additional sheet provided with the prescribed format.

The draft voters’ list will be published on November 23 at specified locations and objections could be submitted till December 8. The final list of voters will be published on December 31.
