Waiting for the Ides of March

At the KPCC office on Saturday, women candidates were found to be discussing the goodness and the luck that would beget them if they filed the nominations on March 15. A party worker said that the new moon this month would bring luck and fortune to women, while it would bring upon disaster for men if they filed the nominations on Monday.

Most of the women, who account for nearly 50 percent of the potential candidates, are prepared to file nominations on the day which they believe, would do good for party as well for the candidate in the elections. However, a few candidates went ahead and filed their nominations on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Congress committee members were at a resort in Bannerghatta, to discuss the reports submitted by ward observers.  The reports would be discussed to prepare a basis and criteria for giving tickets to candidates who have filed nominations, said Jalaja Naik, former MLC, Congress. She also added that the party has been meticulous in scrutinising the candidates’ list before issuing the tickets.
