Former minister bats for fair polls in co-op societies

Addressing a news conference on Monday, he said that if the Government fails to bring in laws which will help in conducting free and fair elections, then the Co-operative sector as a whole will suffer.

“Some co-operative societies are being disqualified purposely while some are being save and patronised,” he alleged and said that the Co-operative Society Secretary, succumbing to the pressure from ruling party has disqualified some members who contested in the election at Lingadahalli, Hiremagalur, Hiregauja societies.

Predicting that Congress will have a upper hand in the DCC Bank election this year, he said that lack of co-ordination between CM and MLA is the only reason why developmental works have been lagging behind in the district. He said that BJP is seeming like a curse for the nation while JD(S) is a tumour and ruled out the rumours that Congress has joined hands with other parties.

“After the Legislative Council election, Congress has decided to keep both BJP and JD(S) at a safe distance. In BBMP election the party will contest without seeking help from any other party. At present Congress is only focusing at the forthcoming GP elections,” he said
Congress Spokesperson A N Mahesh said that Congress will have a upper hand in this DCC Bank election. He opined that developmental works are lagging behind in the district due to lack of co-ordination between CM and the MLA.

He said that though there is a rule that no residential structures can be built within a distance of 100 mts around the jail  ruling party volunteers have been scaring the residents of Rathnagiri Bore saying that the houses built around 500 mts of the jail will have to be vacated.
