<p>KPCC working president Dinesh Gundu Rao on Thursday said the state government might take a call on providing reservation to economically and socially backward sections among all castes, on the basis of the caste survey report that will be out in January.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Replying to a query on his stand on Justice A J Sadashiva Commission report on internal reservation for the SCs, Rao said the report has not yet been accepted by the state government. Moreover, the socio-economic caste survey conducted by the government is more scientific than the Sadashiva Commission report. <br /><br />The caste survey throws light on socio-economic condition of each community in the state, he said at a press conference here.<br /><br />Several people belonging to upper castes such as Brahmins and Vysyas are not economically sound. So, such communities may be given reservation, he added.<br /><br />On the government’s plan to increase reservation to 70%, the former minister said it can’t be done without a basis. The Supreme Court has capped reservation at 50%. The caste survey might help in this regard, he added.</p>
