Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital (RRMCH) recently celebrated its seventh Graduation Day. Minister of Medical Education, Government of Karnataka, Dr Sharanprakash Patil was the chief guest on the occasion.

Former international cricket player and former Indian team captain, Krishnamachari Srikkanth, was the guest of honour. The function was presided over by the chairman of RRMCH, A C Shanmugam.

In his welcome speech, dean Dr H V Shetty spoke about the giant strides that the institution has made over a short period of time. While giving his presidential speech, A C Shanmugam underlined the importance of quality in imparting medical education and healthcare services.

He outlined the path taken by Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital so far.  He expressed his concern over the shortage of doctors and called upon the graduates to serve for sometime in the rural areas.

CEO, RRGI, Seetharam; principal, Dr S Naveen; director, postgraduate studies, Dr Usha; and medical superintendent, Dr Govindaraju, were present on the occasion. Medical director, Dr D L Ramachandra, gave the vote of thanks.

In total, 107 undergraduates, 75 postgraduates and three super speciality graduates, totalling to 185 students, received the Graduation Day honours. It was a memorable day for both the students and their parents.

Twenty university toppers in undergraduation, six university toppers in postgraduation and one topper in superspeciality received the medals.
