He was speaking at a programme organised by the Town Municipal Council, at the Government Pre-University College under SFC, CM, SMTDP projects.

“Steps will be taken to develop the Pinakini-Palar river valleys and village tanks by utilising funding under the Central and State  water conservation programmes,” the Union Minister said.

“The Madhugiri-Chikkaballapur road will be developed into national highway. Steps will be taken to develop a stretch from Yelahanka to Somandepalli in Andhra Pradesh after the nod by the Environment Department,” he said. Measures will also be taken to develop B H Road in the city, he promised.

Extending his support for the struggle launched for the implementation of permanent irrigation project in the district, he said he would not give false promises which will hamper the development of the taluk.

Model terminal

He said measures have also been taken to develop the railway station into a model station in the town. District in-charge Minister Mumtaz Ali Khan said government has released Rs five crore to the development of the town.

Proposal submitted

Legislator N H Shivashankar Reddy said Union government will release special grant to the development of the town for which a proposal of Rs 30 has been submitted. He requested the MP to exert pressure on the department concerned to ensure the release of funds.

Legislator N Sampangi, Deputy Commissioner Anwar Pasha, Commissioner for Local Body Directorate Anjuman Parvez, Zilla Panchayat President Vinuta, Vice-President Chendur Venkatesh, Taluk Panchayat President Jayamma, Vice-President Prakash Reddy, Member Venugopala Reddy, TMC president Saraswati Nagesh, Vice-President Kantaraj, Chief Officer Khwaja Moinuddin, Block Congress General Secretary  Venkatramana and others were present.
