II PU exams from today

They will conclude on March 31

The examinations will commence with the Chemistry and Accountancy papers on Thursday and close on March 31 with languages - Hindi, Telugu, Urdu and Sanskrit. The examinations will be conducted in two sessions, morning session from 9 am to 12.15 pm and the afternoon session from 2 pm to 5.15 pm. Students have the luxury of a Sunday to prepare for the Mathematics paper which is scheduled for March 22.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, the Commissioner of the Pre-University Education Department, S Shankaranarayana said, “All arrangements have been made and necessary precautions taken. This year too we have followed all the protocols at the 907 centres and arrangements have been made like previous years for the benefit of students.”

A helpline will be active from March 18 to 31 between 8 am to 1 pm to address the concerns and even grievances of students and parents. The helpline can be contacted at 080 - 2336 6778 / 080 - 2336 6779. The Department has also issued an advisory to candidates against approaching touts who may claim to have the question papers of various subjects. Students who have lost or damaged their admission tickets can seek redressal by informing the department of the same.

A three-tier system will be in place this year to monitor candidates and check malpractices. Besides the classroom invigilators and supervisors at the centre, there will be 3,000 special squads that will carry out special visits to the centres. This year 52 centres have been identified as sensitive examination centres with a further 19 centres identified as super sensitive.

Further, this year Shimoga will be added as an additional evaluation centre for Pre-University answer scripts besides Bangalore, Mysore, Mangalore, Belgaum and Davangere.
