The play revolves around Spinks, an ex-boxer who is now a ‘has-been’. He is myopic, poor and lonely and shares a rather tetchy exasperated friendship with the alcoholic Kingsley. Desperate for attention, he devises a ploy to gain appeal by pretending to win the lottery.
Soon enough, he is swarmed by generous hand-outs from people and companies, who are hoping to get a share of his fortune and for the first time in ages, he receives advances from the fairer sex. Including that of Dawn Pringle, a good natured Christian girl, who is indifferent to his supposed wealth.
He also becomes the object of interest to her gold-digging identical twin Donna, who tries to seduce him. Spinks’ life takes interesting twists and turns, speckled with hilarious one-liners by the author and richly drawn pointed comments about money, love and deceit.
