Gopalan, Sri Kumaran's share top prize

Gopalan National School and Sri Kumaran’s Children Home, Malladandra emerged joint winners of the KSCA under-14 III Division inter-school tournament for the BTR Shield after their final ended in a tie here.

Batting first, Gopalan posted a competitive 244 for seven in 50 overs with Yash Neralkar (64 n.o.) being the top-scorer. Mithul Bhat and Prathyush G chipped in with 48 and 45 runs respectively. Yashovardhan was the pick of bowlers for Kumaran’s with figures of 3/38.

It was again Yashovardhan who almost took Kumaran’s to victory with an unbeaten 114 before Gopalan pulled things back. Nikunj Raja (4/34) was the most successful bowler for Gopalan as Kumaran’s finished at exactly 244/9 in the stipulated 50 overs.
