<p>Sensing increased threat perception in the wake of Republic Day, the Centre has deployed National Security Guard (NSG) commandos at all major cities, including Bengaluru. <br /><br /></p>.<p>This is the first time NSG commandos are in the city for security reasons for Republic Day celebrations. They arrived here on Tuesday night and are on standby, a senior police officer said.<br /><br />“It is a decision from Ministry of Home Affairs to send NSG commandos to all major cities in the wake of Republic Day celebrations,” Malini Krishnamurthy, Additional Commissioner of Police (West), said.<br /><br />“The city police have made elaborate security arrangements throughout the city, including deployment of Garuda forces at Manekshaw Parade Grounds and KSRP premises behind Bangalore Central Mall. A deputy commissioner of police has been exclusively assigned for security of Metro services on M G Road,” she added.<br /><br /></p>
