Turncoats rule UP polls; BJP fields majority party hoppers

 A large number of ‘turncoats’ have managed to secure nominations from different political parties and jumped into the fray for the Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh.

In all, there are about 70 party hoppers, contesting on the tickets of the BJP, Congress, BSP, SP and RLD.

Besides, a large number of turncoats are trying their luck as independents too.
The BJP has fielded the maximum number of turncoats. Prominent among those who crossed over to the BJP from other parties and are contesting on the saffron partys’ tickets included former Uttar Pradesh Congress president Reeta Bahuguna Joshi and former key associates of BSP supremo Mayawati Swami Prasad Maurya and Brijesh Pathak.
