Recollecting memories

Grand evening
Last Updated 09 February 2017, 19:01 IST

Elaborate dining, enticing cocktails and interesting conversations at its best — it was a grand evening of recollecting memories and welcoming a new member into the fold at The Oberoi, Bengaluru recently.

While the evening marked the welcoming of Visheshwar Raj Singh as the new vice-president and general manager, it also marked the completion of 25 years in the city for the hotel.

Having worked with the same hotel from 1998 to 2002, Visheshwar is elated to be back in Bengaluru.

“It is going to be an adventurous journey here and I am positive that I would be able to contribute to the hotel’s timeless presence. I feel I will be taking the hotel many years ahead,” he said.

Visheshwar added, “The wine culture seems to have started from Bengaluru and I identify the hotel with fine wine. The challenge ahead is to provide the best and bring in changes wherever required.”

The event saw the who’s who of the city, which included businessmen, industrialists, fashion designers and loyal customers.

Priya Rajagopal, a guest, said that she remembers coming to the hotel many times and having a pleasant experience.

Sahana Das, another guest, recollected the time when she and her family stayed in the hotel for two and a half months when they moved to the city. “Our house was just getting ready. We didn’t want to be served hotel food every day. We were served the best home-style food and it remains one of our best memories,” she said.

Aslam and Michelle Gafoor pointed out that despite being in the heart of the city, to have a hotel which opens up to a well managed green space inside has always been refreshing.

Aslam said, “Despite Bengaluru being the ‘garden city’, the facts are different when you’re out on the roads. The space has always been a relaxed spot to be at with equal sophistication and warmth.”
