The Legislative Council on Friday referred to the privileges committee a motion moved by Congress MLC Pratap Chandra Shetty, charging the Agriculture Department secretary with breach of privilege.
Shetty said the secretary has not implemented Council Chairman D H Shankara- murthy’s decision to nominate him to the executive committee meeting of University of Horticulture and Agriculture Sciences, Shivamogga. Though the nomination order was issued in August last year, the officer has not invited him to any of the meetings, he said.
The MLC said he was treated the same way in 2014 when he was nominated to the executive committee of Bangalore University. Then the chairman referred the motion to the privileges committee and directed it to submit the report in 15 days.
Maheshwar Rao is the Agriculture Secretary. However, he is not named in the motion.
