Last Updated 14 February 2017, 18:02 IST
A man staged a lone protest with an empty pot in front of the deputy commissioner’s office here on Tuesday to draw the attention of officials towards water scarcity in his village.

Thirthappa of Holalu village complained that Shivananda of the same village in Belur taluk, had fixed a motor to the public borewell seven years ago and had been pumping water for his personal use. He said promises made by ZP members and chief executive officer to supply water to Dalit colony had not been fulfilled and the residents of the village were problems due to non-availability of drinking water.

Thirthappa said cattle in Kesagodu, Neelahalli and Malleshwara were affected by the water crisis. He said repeated pleas to the district in-charge minister, chief minister, rural development minister and taluk panchayat executive officer had not yielded any results. He said he would stage a similar protest in front of the residence of district in-charge minister A Manju, if the district administration did not take any action.
