Holenarsipur MLA H D Revanna on Thursday took a dig at Deputy Commissioner V Chaitra for showing “disrespect towards legislators and failing to understand the real problems of the district.”

Revanna told reporters here on Thursday that the DC had provided false information to the Central team that visited the district for a drought assessment.

“Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should conduct a probe on this. The DC would be held responsible if there is a breakdown of law and order situation in the district,” he said.

He said the district was reeling under a severe drought with cattle dying due to non-availability of water and fodder. “Instead of reviewing the situation, the DC has been wasting time sitting in the office,” he alleged. He also expressed disappointment over her style of functioning and treating legislators like her “slaves”.

Pointing out a recent discussion on the drinking water problems of the district in the Assembly, Revanna said that, “The deputy commissioner had not visited any taluks of the district to learn the ground reality. Not a single village in Holenarasipur taluk has been supplied drinking water through tankers.”

Farmers of Belur and Halebeedu have been running from pillar to post to get a pot of water and no attempts have been made to open goshalas, he said.

“Several layouts in the city are being supplied drinking water once in 20 days. Sathyamangala Gram Panchayat, which has 45 GP members is not very far from the district centre. Why is the DC not visiting the village to check the reality,” he sought to know. He said the official car, bungalow and other luxuries provided to the DC by the government were meant to serve the people and not just for their comfort, he said.
