BJP leaders B S Yeddyurappa and K S Eshwarappa on Saturday put up a show of unity by sharing the dais and speaking about bringing the party back to power in Karnataka.

At the BJP’s OBC Morcha meeting here, Eshwarappa said the party’s aim is to ensure BJP returns to power and Yeddyurappa becomes the chief minister.

Both the leaders shared a huge garland at the event. They sat next to each other and exchanged pleasantries.

To give an impression that all is well between the two, Yeddyurappa said, “The OBC Morcha got a boost after Eshwarappa took charge of it.”

Recently, Eshwarappa was appointed incharge of the Morcha.Yeddyurappa said Eshwarappa had planned two mega conventions of the Morcha – one in Bidar on February 22 and another in Yadgir on February 23. Yeddyurappa made no mention of his past differences with Eshwarappa.

However, Eshwarappa said, “There was some minor confusion between us. However, BJP national president Amit Shah made us sit together and advised us to work together to bring the party back to power.” Eshwarappa also said the aim should not be limited to making announcements in this regard. Everyone should introspect whether the party is working towards the stated aim in the Assembly constituencies and districts, he said.

Eshwarappa said people are disappointed with the Siddaramaiah government. Corruption cases may not even allow the government to survive for the next one year, he said.

Demand probe

Addressing reporters at the party office, party spokesman Ashwathnarayana and legislator Y A Narayanaswamy said the governor should hold an enquiry into the reported conversation in a CD between Yeddyurappa and Union Minister Ananth Kumar.

The Congress, to cover up its corruption, has released the “fake CD”. The BJP would protest on Monday in front of Town Hall and a complaint would be lodged with the governor, they said.
