Last Updated 18 February 2017, 20:03 IST

Four drunk men attacked a City Armed Reserve (CAR) constable with a hollow brick when he warned them against urinating on the temple wall.

Purushottam (50) was returning to police quarters on Mysuru Road on Friday night when he saw the men relieving themselves against the Ganesha temple wall near Vinayaka Theatre. He warned them and asked them to go away. The men got angry and picked a fight. They punched him and hit him on the head with a hollow brick. Residents of police quarters came out after hearing the commotion.

Seeing them, the suspects fled. Purushottam was taken to Victoria Hospital and is said to be out of danger.

“I had kept my gun at home. The men were totally drunk and were not in a mood to listen to me. I didn’t see them before,” Purushottam, who is a gunman of MLC and film producer, C R Manohar, said in a complaint to police. A surveillance camera has captured the incident and police are hunting for the suspects.
