Workers and leaders of the BJP city unit, on Monday, staged a protest against the state government in the city, demanding that the ministers facing graft charges be sacked from the Cabinet.

The agitating workers, led by former minister S A Ramdas, H V Rajeev, City unit president Dr B H Manjunath and ex-chairman of MUDA L Nagendra, staged a protest near the deputy commissioner office here.

The agitating BJP workers alleged, “Congress came to the power with a promise to deliver corruption-free governance. But the people are disappointed with the Siddaramaiah-led government.”

“A majority of the people’s representatives elected from the party are corrupt and are indulged in several scams. Income Tax department raid on the residence of Minister for Small-Scale Industries Ramesh L Jarkiholi and Karnataka State Mahila Congress president Laxmi R Hebbalkar in Belagavi city and MLC Govindaraju have unearthed crores of rupees. The Congress leadership is, however, shielding the corrupt ministers and legislators,” they alleged.

Even the CM has been defending his party leaders and has failed to provide a satisfactory answer, they pointed out. The agitators submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner D Randeep.
