Kidnap case against gold showroom owner, staff

The Vijayanagar police on Wednesday registered a kidnap case against the owner of Lakshmi Gold Palace, K P Nanjundi, and a few employees in Malleswaram.

The police said that the wife of Vijayakumar, a manager in the jewellery showroom in Mysuru, lodged a complaint stating that on February 18, her husband was kidnapped by Nanjundi, Raju Khariya, a senior manager and employees Ramakrishna and Rajan.

They accused Vijayakumar of stealing gold valuables and wanted him to confess to the crime, she stated in the complaint.

Based on a complaint, the police found that Vijayakumar had made away with four gold coins and two gold chains. During the audit, the gold valuables were found missing. When the senior manager questioned Vijayakumar, he confessed to have taken away the valuables.

Vijayakumar requested Khariya to spare him and promised to return the valuables.
Vijayakumar was trying to dodge the senior manager whenever he asked him to return the valuables, added the police.

“It is suspected that Vijayakumar and his wife planned to register a false police complaint to get away with the offence. The police found Vijayakumar in Mysuru. He was brought to the
city and is being questioned with the other showroom staff.

Nanjundi also stated that he was not aware about the kidnap case registered against him. He would look into the issue and provide information to the police. It is a suspicious case and is being investigated,” said a senior police officer. A case has been registered at the Vijayanagar police station.
