Mangalore Physiocon Week '17 from today

The South Canara Physiotherapy Teachers’ Association will organise Mangalore Physiocon Week ’17 from February 28 to March 5.

Informing this to media persons here on Monday, Physiocon organising chairman Dr U T Ifthikar Ali said a series of programmes have been planned on the theme ‘Lets unite - Lets move the physio way’ as part of Physiocon.

The first event of the week-long programme is a blood donation camp and a preconference. The blood donation camp will be inaugurated by Assistant Commissioner of Police Shruthi N S at Kanachur at College of Physiotherapy at Natekal on February 28 at 10 am.

The pre-conference will be inagurated at Kasturba Hospital in Manipal by Medical Education Minister Dr Sharan Prakash Patil on February 28 at 10 am. It will be presided over by Manipal university Pro Chancellor Dr H S Ballal.

Fruit distribution, the second programme, will be held at Government Wenlock Hospital on March 1 at 9.30 am. Fruits will be distributed to patients in the hospital and the programme will be inaugurated by Vinaya Hospital MD Dr Hansraj Alva and District Surgeon Dr Rajeshwari Devi H R will be the guest of honour.

Pre-conferences will also be held at Dr M V Shetty College of Physiotherapy, Shree Devi College of Physiotherapy and Srinivas College of Physiotherapy on March 2 simultaneously.

The main event, the international physiotherapy conference will be held at Yendurance Zone at Yenepoya University on March 3 at 9.30 am. It will be inaugurated by Medical Education Minister Dr Sharan Prakash Patil. Food and Civil Supplies Minister U T Khader will deliver the keynote address and Leader of Opposition K S Eshwarappa will be the chief guest.

Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) Vice Chancellor Dr K S Ravindranath will preside over the programme.

More than 2,500 student delegates are expected to take part in the conference, Dr Ali said and added that the conference would comprise scientific paper and poster presentation by delegates, a quiz contest and cultural programmes, which will be inaugurated by Bollywood stars Javed Jaffrey and Ali Asgar (of Kapil Sharma show fame Dadi).

The valedictory ceremony will be held on March 4 and District In-Charge Minister B Ramanath Rai will be the chief guest. The post-conference event will be held at Fr Muller Medical College Hospital on March 5 at 9.30 am. It will be inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kumar.
