COWE to launch Women's Day events with walkathon tomorrow

To spread the message of women’s rights and mark ‘International Women’s Day’ falling on March 8, a walkathon will be held by Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs (COWE).

The third edition of “Purple on Heel” walkathon will be held on Sunday where women entrepreneurs and ladies from different walks of life will take part. The walkathon will start from Cubbon Park and end at MG Road Metro station.

Founder chairperson and president COWE, Karnataka chapter Rupa Rani told DH the walkathon will start at 6 am and will be followed by free health check-up camp.

Rani added, “Around 2,500 women are expected to take part in the walkathon and will wear purple T-shirts. In continuation of the walkathon, on March 8, we will hold a panel discussion on women-related issues that will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Ministers R V Deshpande and Priyank Kharge will speak on schemes for women and on other topics.”

A  panel discussion featuring Harley Davidson women biker team from Bengaluru has also been organised. Men and women can pledge to take a step to achieve gender parity more quickly with purpleonheels #BeBoldforChange. Register on www.eventshigh.me/purpleonheels.
