The Assembly committee on government assurances has recommended provision of infrastructure at the cold-hit villages surrounding Harangi and Hemavathi reservoirs in Somwarpet taluk.

Following his recent visit, the panel chairman Kyatsandra N Rajanna has recommended the government to create facilities at Mavinahalli, Janardhanahalli, Magadihalli, Honnekodi and Hippagalale villages.

The committee that had inspected various places during its visit has made following recommendations: allotting alternate lands for villagers willing to shift to other places or lay concrete road, build drains, provide drinking water and bus connectivity to the people.

Some of the villagers left with half-acre to one-acre land are willing to stay in the same villages, although rainwater occupies 300 feet of land during rainy season at Janardhanahalli, Mavinahalli, Magadihalli, Honnekodi and Hippagalale.

Build houses for farmers as promised by revenue minister, by developing sites on 5.85 acres of land already acquired for the purpose. Daily wagers who were eking out a living in the lands acquired should also be benefited with site.

All the infrastructure should be extended to Maluganahalli coming under the same survey number of other villages, as requested by villagers.

Other facilities like community hall, burial ground, completion of temple works and 500 metres of solar fencing should be taken up at afore mentioned five villages under special component plan (SCP) and tribal sub-plan (TSP) funds.

Measures should be taken to provide adequate power to villages and better road and transport connectivity for the benefit of villagers and school children. The applications received under 94(C) should also be disposed off at the earliest.
