<p>A construction worker was hacked to death by his co-workers for excessive use of water while playing Holi in Subramanyapura on Sunday evening. <br /><br />The deceased, Biswajith Dutta (27), hailed from West Bengal. He had been residing at a makeshift shed at a construction project taken up by Iskcon in Subramanyapura. The police have detained nine people in connection with the murder. <br /><br />A large number of construction workers from West Bengal, Odisha and Bihar have been employed for the project. They reside in makeshift sheds at the construction site. A big tank has been built at the site to store water for daily use, said the police.<br /><br />Dutta, who began playing Holi on Sunday afternoon, would often go near the tank and use the water. The co-workers citing scarcity of water at the site warned him not to use too much water. However, Dutta ignored them and told them to mind their business, said the <br />police.<br /><br />The suspects lost their cool as Dutta kept wasting water till evening. They picked a fight with him and he retaliated. One of them hit his head with a log repeatedly. <br /><br />A profusely bleeding Dutta was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival, said the police.<br /></p>
