CMR University – School of Architecture inaugurated their second annual exhibition ‘Chingari’, a three-day architectural exhibition, at the premises of the institution. It will continue till March 26.

The exhibition was inaugurated by noted architect Gayathri Shetty.  The main purpose of the exhibition is to showcase the works of students, get critique from students of other institutions, architects and general public. During the inauguration, a travel book on Tamil Nadu by the students of CMRU SOA was also released.

Gayathri Shetty said, “There’s a lot of work done in different ways in terms of product and design that really aids a lot in the development skills for volume and space design.”

“I think it is a great exhibition that the students from CMRU SOA have put up. It is the process which is most important and usually students tend to get carried away and want to design huge buildings straight away. What they are learning now is of utmost importance and they should enjoy every project they do.”

“‘Chingari’ is the most awaited event for us. It is a platform to show the world that we are stepping up and trying to design things and places in a different way which are mostly maker-centric.”

“We started working on our models three months ago with the entire B Arch batch spilt into two groups and each project is different from the other completely. It all has been made for a purpose and to convey a message,” says Sahajeet, a second-semester student.

The exhibits related to work done by the first and second year B Arch students in various courses including basic design, architectural design, foundation workshop, mid-semester workshop, visual arts, building construction, graphics and history of architecture were
showcased.

Drawings, paintings, printouts and three dimensional models and various kinds of projects were on display. It was a good platform for student to showcase their talents and each work varied from another.
