Last Updated 30 March 2017, 20:19 IST
The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has filed a police complaint against two of its employees for allocating sites by forging the signatures of senior officials. The Authority is also conducting an internal inquiry to get more details on this case and checking for more such anomalies.

H S Satish Babu, BDA deputy secretary-2 said that there could be more cases where signatures have been forged. An  internal inquiry is being done by the BDA and another independent inquiry is being done by the local police officials.

Complaint against Ravi Kumar and Thippeswamy was registered at Sheshadripuram police station on Tuesday and the duo were arrested, Babu said. When the scam was unearthed, the duo were working in the law section. When they committed the crime, the duo were working under different BDA deputy secretaries.

Another BDA official said that since BDA sites are in demand and there is a severe shortage, there could be more such cases where signatures of senior officials have been forged. The anomaly was detected in Kumaraswamy Layout. In Kempegowda Layout, the BDA will be more careful, the official said.

Registration of sites was also done illegally from the BDA’s sub-registrar office. “The enquiry will ascertain the illegality in the whole system and the money each person made. This came to the BDA’s knowledge during internal auditing. There will also be many complaints from people, which will be examined. There may be many cases like this in the BDA,” another senior official said.
