Second PU results likely on May 10

The evaluation of answer papers of second year Pre-University examination has begun and results are expected to be announced on May 10.

The examinations for 34 subjects were conducted between March 9 and 27. The evaluation of the answer papers will be done in 48 centres.

Coding and decoding of answer paper bundles began on Monday and will continue on Tuesday as well. Officials in the Department of Pre-University Education (DPUE) said that the actual evaluation of papers would begin on April 5.

There are 22,000 evaluators of different subjects from government, aided and unaided colleges, deputed for this purpose. There are approximately 37 lakh answer papers of 6.8 lakh students to be evaluated. “The evaluation of answer sheets will be completed in 12 to 15 days. The results will be published in the first or second week of May,” said C Shikha, the director, DPUE.

Earlier, an association of lecturers had decided to boycott the evaluation process, demanding an increase in their pay. However, after a meeting with Primary and Secondary Education minister Tanveer Sait, they have temporarily suspended their protest.
