Vairamudi: devotees witness adorning of deity

Thousands thronged the temple town to be a part of the ‘Vairamudi jatra’ at Melkote’s Cheluvanarayanaswami temple on Wednesday. Religious fervour marked the occasion as the procession took off amidst chanting of hymns by devotees who enthusiastically repeated Govinda... Govinda. 

Earlier, the ornaments, including the diamond-studded crown and Rajamudi which were kept at the district treasury, were brought to the temple amidst tight police security. The ornaments were opened in the presence of Deputy Commissioner S Ziaullah, SP Sudhirkumar Reddy and other dignitaries.

Pujas were performed to the ornaments before the deity was adorned with the jewels.
