Stepping into the future

Gitam University recently organised a techno-management event titled ‘Gizatra 2K17’. As part of the event, ‘Prerana 2K17’ was conducted which focussed exclusively on technical events related to engineering students like paper presentation, technical workshops and other brainstorming sessions. Students from various engineering colleges around the city participated in this three-day event.

The inaugural function began on a colourful note with introductory remarks by conveners Prof T Nageswara Rao and Prof Sarith Kumar, also the convenor of the event. Prof K Vijaya Bhaskar Raju, director, School of Technology, Gitam University, welcomed the gathering. Prof P V Sivapulliah, pro vice-chancellor of the university, stressed upon the importance of the fest.

H N Nandi Dharam Kishore, director, Subex Limited, Bengaluru, was the guest of honour on the occasion while E S Chakravarthy, center head, TCS Bengaluru, was the chief guest. Chakravarthy spoke about three things — the purpose of education, future technologies and the purpose of life.

He said that the purpose of education should be to gain confidence in oneself, make an active contribution to society and above all, become a concerned citizen. Apart from that, he spoke about future technologies namely social media programming, cloud computing, analytics, mobile technology and Internet of Things (IOT).

Finally, he spoke about the purpose of life as being the respect that is earned based on intellectual currency, institutional currency, cultural currency and what one can give back to society as an individual. Prof N V Krishna Prasad, assistant principal, proposed the vote of thanks. D Vamsi, director of administration; faculty members from the university; and heads and delegates from various institutes were present during the inaugural ceremony.
