18 more JnNURM buses to function soon in Udupi

As many as 18 additional Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM) buses would ply shortly on the streets of Udupi along with already running 55 buses.

Speaking at the public grievance meet organised by the KSRTC Mangaluru division, the Mangaluru divisional manager Jaishanth Kumar said that until now, 77 buses have received permits. However, functioning of some buses have been halted due to confusions in the time schedule.

The 18 buses will start functioning as the time schedule for the buses have been structured. He said the problem with the allotment of JnNURM bus service at respective stretches following the demands by public is due to the unavailability of many number of nationalised stretches. The private bus owners lobby by raising various legal implications. They have also approached the court over the functioning of JnNURM buses in Udupi district.

He said the licence to run JnNURM buses in Udupi-Kalsanka-Ambagilu route has been processed and the buses will shortly available for the service of the public. The time schedule needs to be ascertained.

Request for services

The public also appealed for the bus services at Udupi-Indrali Railway Station, Udupi-Kalsanka-Ambagilu, Udupi-Kidiyur-Sampigenagara-Pithrodi, Udupi-Vadabandeshwara-Hampankatta, JnNURM bus service from Udupi service bus stop, appropriate time schedule for JmNURM buses plying from Udupi to Karkala and vice versa, buses for the routes connecting Udupi-Brahmavar-Muddur-Hebri-Kabbinale and the bus service for the route Saibarakatte-Shiryara-Kudurekatte-Mandarthi.

The public also raised the demand to convert the Karkala-Udupi JnNURM bus service into rural service on the occasion.
