The High Court of Karnataka on Thursday quashed the lower court order summoning Sunil Bose, son of Public Works Minister H C Mahadevappa.

Justice P S Dinesh Kumar allowed the petition filed by Bose, who had challenged the showcause notice issued by the Special Lokayukta Court directing him to appear before the court.

The Lokayukta police in Mysuru had registered a case against Raju and Alphonse, aides of Bose and government employees attached to the Department of Mines and Geology. Complainant Basavaraju had alleged that Alphonse was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe on behalf of Bose from Basavaraju in an illegal sand mining incident.

Following investigations into the incident, the Lokayukta police failed to mention Bose’s name in the charge sheet which was later challenged by Basavaraju.  The Lokayukta Special Court has issued a showcause notice to Bose to appear before the court.  The judge quashed the notice issued to him.
