Beheading of two soldiers dastardly act: DGMO to Pak army

Indian Army on Tuesday conveyed its serious concerns on the “dastardly and inhuman” act of the Pakistan Army's Border Action Team in killing and mutilating the bodies of two soldiers in an early morning ambush near the Line of Control between the two nations.
 
Lt Gen A K Bhatt, the Director General of Military Operations spoke to his Pakistani counterpart on the telephone hotline to convey that “such dastardly and inhuman act is beyond any norms of civility and merits unequivocal condemnation and response.”
 
The Indian DGMO also told the Pakistani officer that full fire support was provided by a Pakistan army post located in the vicinity of the incident site.
 
Army sources said since January 1, as many as 65 ceasefire violations were recorded – all in the Jammu region that comes under the 16 Corps. The firings from across the border are given to provide cover to the infiltrating terrorists and BAT that moves across the border for swift action.

 
The DGMO expressed his grave concern about the Monday's incident in Krishna Ghati sector opposite Battal in Pakistan occupie Kashmir where Pakistan troops targeted Indian patrol on Indian side of the Line of Control and mutilated the bodies of two soldiers, said an Army source. The Pakistan Army on Monday denied its involvement in the killing and mutilation.
 
Lt Gen Bhatt also communicated India's concerns about the presence of BAT training camps in the close vicinity of the disputed boundary between the two nations in the POK region.
 
The angry reaction from the Indian side comes a day after mutilated bodies of Indian soldiers Naik Subedar Paramjit Singh from 22 Sikh regiment and head constable Prem Sagar from 200 battalion of the Border Security Force were found near the LoC. Both were ambushed by the Pakistan Army's BAT.
 
A third soldier constable Rajinder Singh received bullet injuries in his left leg. The ambush in the Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch took place on an early morning patrol party in the that was moving from one post to another.
 
The previous year witnessed 228 ceasefire violations across the LoC in addition to 221 such incidents along the international border, manned by the BSF. The number of ceasefire violations in 2014 and 2015 were 153 and 150 respectively, suggesting how the tension in the border flared up in the last 12 months.
