It’s festival of flowers in Gulmohar Valley. The Kolar Road between Panasamakanahalli village and Chaldiganahalli village in Srinivaspur taluk has earned its name as Gulmohar Valley.

Thanks to the initiative taken by the Social Forestry Department that has planted these trees at stretch of four km. On the either sides of the stretch, these Gulmohar trees have grown up into lush green patches. During summer, the flowers are in full bloom creating a natural canopy of bright splash of colours.

The trees have lent a shade to the travellers and are now a visual treat for the passersby. Perhaps nowhere in the district this beauty is visible. Hues of red, orange, yellow and maroon are seen splashed all over the huge trees.

These trees are densely grown and that is why it is set apart from the other roads. What makes this stretch very special is the fact that travellers actually get down from their vehicles to soak in the lovely ambience. The visual is breathtaking and enchanting, leaving every one mesmerised.

Women often love to wear Gulmohar flowers and children love to pluck these flowers to play. These flowers are largely used for decorating the mantaps in marriage halls for weddings and other ceremonies. Canopies of mango and coconut leaves, intertwined with Gulmohar flowers add a beauty to the decorations.

For all the religious ceremonies including Jathras and Rathotsavas, flowers from Gulmohar trees are a must. By the time, the Gulmohar flowers become a part of these decorations, they wither away. So far, they are on trees, they look awesome!
