Actor Adah Sharma made her acting debut with Vikram Bhatt’s film ‘1920’. Little did she know then that a horror flick would open the door of success for her in the film industry. The movie was not just a box-office hit, but also earned her much appreciation from film enthusiasts.

Later, she went on to act in films like ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’ and ‘Phhir’ and was last seen in ‘Commando 2’. In a conversation with Surupasree Sarmmah, the bubbly actor talks about her journey.

The film ‘1920’ marked the beginning of your career. How has your journey been since then?
I am very fortunate to have started off with a horror film and a role like that, because it is very difficult for a person from a non-filmy background to get a great role. With ‘1920’, I proved myself and everyone had faith in my acting skills. I have done films of different genres and have been showcasing a new side of myself in each. It has been a versatile journey.

Any challenging roles till now...
Every film has a different character and is challenging in itself, but ‘1920’ was quite tough. It required a lot of physical and mental strength to achieve the character.

You have also acted in a few South Indian films. Do you find the two industries quite different?
They are different but I guess it’s the difference that keeps me motivated to be a part of both of them.

One of your most memorable characters...
It has to be the character of Hayathi from the Telugu film ‘Heart Attack’ and that of Bhavna Reddy from
‘Commando 2’. The two characters are very similar to what I am in real life and that’s what makes them memorable.

Any genre in particular that you would like to explore...
I feel my forte is love stories. There is so much to explore in this genre.

Your interests apart from acting...
I am both an adventurous and a creative kind of person. I like to paint and have painted on my clothes and shoes. That apart, I love watching films and reading.

If you are a new addition to a bookshelf, which book would you be?
An encyclopedia on the living creatures of the deep ocean.

Something about you that the world doesn’t know...
I can fly...no seriously, I can fly.(Laughs)
