Jilted lover pours acid in man's mouth; victim succumbs to burns

 A jilted lover attacked her estranged boyfriend with acid leading to his death on Tuesday in Venigandla of Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh.

According to the police, on Tuesday, K Hima Bindu (21), a pharmacy student, invited Md Ilyas (23), who had married another girl on Monday, to discuss certain issues.

Hima asked Ilyas to bring all videos, photos and records of her that were in his possession. However, she did not give him a place to meet her. She asked him to meet her at three different places before finally meeting him at the house of one of her friends who stayed close by.

Ilyas’ relative Khasim accompanied him, but stayed outside the house.An hour later, Ilyas came running out of the house screaming.

Khasim and some villagers shifted Ilyas to the Guntur Government Hospital where he succumbed to severe burns on Wednesday.

At the hospital, Ilyas wrote on a piece of paper that Hima  had poured acid in his mouth, and in the scuffle she also suffered burns on her legs and hands.

Hima took her father’s help to escape from her friend’s house. The police have formed two teams to nab her. A case of murder has been registered against Hima.

A shocked Allabakshu, Ilyas’ older brother, said the family got to know about the affair with Hima only after the marriage on Monday. “She (Hima) said Ilyas cheated her by marrying another girl. I begged and asked her not to create a ruckus. She assured me that she would walk away and she did. But now she has rendered an innocent woman a widow,” he said.
