Schools get ready to welcome children

Measures taken to start LKG, UKG in government schools

After two months of summer holidays, schools are all set to welcome students in the new academic year. The department of public instruction has made all preparations for the Shala Prarambhotsava on May 29.

The children are getting ready to go to school with new bags and writing materials. The department has issued a circular to all government schools to deck up the schools to welcome the children. All the teachers have to be present at the Shala Prarambhotsava. The children have to be given sweets, the department said in the circular.

The department has started a special enrolment drive from May 16 to 31. Measures have been taken to start LKG and UKG classes in government schools. Awareness is being created in the district to enrol children to schools. The teachers have been directed to visit houses in the school jurisdiction to ensure that  no child is left out from the enrolment for school.

“Textbooks, uniforms, shoes and cycles will be distributed in all the taluks in the presence of elected representatives. The distribution of books, uniforms should be completed by June 15,” DDPI S G Nagesh told DH.

He said handbills have been distributed among the people to highlight the facilities available at government schools. Under Minchina Sanchara programmes, measures will be taken to clean water tanks, school grounds from June 1 to 7.

The admission process has been completed in private schools and the textbooks, notebooks have already been distributed.
