Transport staff can get transfer to another corporation

Last Updated 12 June 2017, 19:34 IST
Drivers, conductors and other Grade II and IV employees in the four transport corporations can now apply for a one-time transfer.

The committee to monitor the transfer of employees among the four state transport corporations has been told to begin the process immediately and complete it by July 31.

Thousands of employees of KSRTC, BMTC, NWKRTC and NEKRTC have been seeking transfers for years. The government, in March, gave in-principle approval and instructed the transport department to form a committee to frame rules in this regard.

The transfer allows employees to get posted to a corporation of their choice and move closer to their homes and families. The transport department has finalised the rules and procedures for the transfer framed by the committee comprising managing directors of the four corporations. Employees should apply online and provide supporting documents within 15 days.

The transfer is a one-time opportunity and is subject to available and prospective vacancies. Employees can’t change their choice once the application is submitted. Preference will be given after considering family and health issues. However, employees can only choose the corporation, not a specific division where they seek to work.
