Toho Pictures, creator and owner of the Godzilla franchise, released a new poster of their upcoming anime Godzilla film, titled 'Godzilla: Monster Planet', on the film's official twitter handle. The poster shows the design of Godzilla as he will be seen in the film.

The tweet is accompanied by the message "Despair Evolves", and references the studio's advancement of their long-running franchise after last year's well-received Japanese reboot 'Shin Godzilla'. The design drew comments from fans who compared it with the design used by Legendary Pictures in the blockbuster 2014 reboot of the franchise.
The studio also released the official synopsis of 'Godzilla: Monster Planet' when they showcased the first poster a few months ago:
"In the year 2048, the human race is forced to leave Earth after decades of losing against Godzilla and other giant monsters. They take a twenty-year journey to another planet called Tau Ceti e, but upon arrival, they discover that the planet has become uninhabitable. As living conditions on their ship deteriorate, a young man named Haruo spearheads a movement to return to Earth and take it back from the monsters. The ship successfully makes the return voyage, but the crew realizes that twenty thousand years have passed, with Earth's ecosystem having evolved to become centered around Godzilla."
The film is written by acclaimed Japanese writer Gen Urobuchi and co-prodcued by Polygon Pictures and Toho Pictures. It is expected to release worldwide on Netflix in November 2017 and will be theatrically released in Japan in the same month.
