Last Updated 14 June 2017, 18:56 IST

A 30-year-old milk tanker driver was caught driving drunk in Kamakshipalya on Wednesday.

The driver, identified as Ambarish R, was detained. He is a resident of Gottigere.

Since seizing the tanker would have resulted in the milk going bad, Kamakshipalaya traffic policemen contacted the owner of the vehicle and the milk dealer, and made arrangements for another driver to drive the tanker to Bengaluru Dairy. The truck was on its way from Magadi to Bengaluru Dairy. The police, who measured his blood alcohol level, found it to be 120 mg/dL, which is well above the permissible limit.

“Ambulance, school bus. Now milk tanker. Essential service vehicle drivers driving under the influence of alcohol (sic),” tweeted R Hithendra, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic).
