<p>Unidentified miscreants murdered an autorockshaw driver, who was also an activist of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), at Ramanagara in Bantwal on Wednesday. <br /><br />Mohammed Ashraf Kalai (35), a resident of Ammunje near Polali, was heading the SDPI unit of Ammunje. The incident came to light when fellow drivers heard him screaming and lying in a pool of blood. <br /><br />They rushed to the spot and saw six persons, who were wearing helmets, leaving in two-wheelers. The police have seized a helmet and machete from the spot. <br /><br />The place of incident is six km away from Kalladka, where a group clash was reported on June 13. As a precautionary measure, the police closed down all the business establishments in Kalladka, B C Road, Farangipete, Thumbe and Melkar. <br /><br />SP Bhushan Borase, IGP (Western range) P Harishekaran and other senior police officers rushed to the spot. <br /><br />Meanwhile, prohibitory orders have been extended in Dakshina Kannada, except under Mangaluru Police Commissionerate limits, till midnight of June 27 following murder. <br /><br />Security has been strengthened in the Bantwal taluk including Mani, Kalladka, B C Road and Kaikamba. Additional police forces from Chikkamagaluru, Udupi, 10 DAR and KSRP platoons have been deployed. <br /><br /></p>
