BHEL B'lore units log 13% growth in sales

Briefing reporters, Executive Director (EDN & ISG) G Ganapathiraman said the profit before tax registered a 20 per cent growth at Rs 648 crore during the reporting fiscal as against Rs 541 crore in 2008-09.

Divisions-wise, he saidwhile electronics division (EDN) saw a 16 per cent growth in turnover at Rs 1,487 crore (Rs 1,284 crore previous), the industrial systems group (ISG) and ceramic business unit (CBU) together notched up a 9 per cent growth each at Rs 601 crore (Rs 551 crore previous) and Rs 317 crore (Rs 291 crore previous) respectively.

According to Ganapathiraman the three units together recorded export turnover of Rs 1,053 crore and have received orders worth Rs 3,239 crore during the year. With this, the outstanding order book at the end of the year, he said, reached Rs 6,384 crore registering a 7 per cent jump over previous fiscals Rs 5,514 crore. Further, he said plans to augment annual manufacturing capacity from 15,000 MW to 20,000 MW by 2011-12, was on keeping in line with corporate growth strategy.

Investment for augmentation would be around Rs 150-crore spread over three years, he added. Of this, Rs 40 crore had been pumped in last year, another Rs 40 crore this year and Rs 75 crore would be pumped in next year.
