Kempegowda is an inspiration for youth, said Kodagu-Mysuru MP Prathap Simha.
Speaking after inaugurating Kempegowda Jayanti organised by Jilla Okkaligara Sangha here on Tuesday, he said Kempegowda was known for his prudence.

If the world has set its eyes on Bengaluru, then the credit goes to Kempegowda who developed Bengaluru and Kannadigas should be proud of him. Kempegowda Jayanti should not be restricted to a community. It should be observed by all, he said.

Pejawar seer

He said that seer Vishwesha Theertha Swami of Pejawar Mutt has spread the message on living in harmony through Iftar party at Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt.

“One should not try to find fault in it. The Pejawar seer has contributed to the welfare of Hinduism,” he said.

The MP has challenged the state government to reveal the report submitted by it against Kasturirangan report on conservation of the Western Ghats. “For having concern on the environment in Kodagu, the Centre has announced Ecologically-sensitive Zones in Kodagu. The Centre has not implemented Kasturirangan report on conservation of the Western Ghats. The public need not panic,” he added.

MLA M P Appacchu Ranjan said that there is a need to create awareness on the contributions of Kempegowda among the youth.

MLC Sunil Subramani, Karnataka Silk Marketing Federation chairman T P Ramesh, BJP district unit president B B Bharathish were present on the occasion.
